Jake O'Neil wins with USMTS at Casino Speedway
Nick was back on action on Saturday night at the Tucson Speedway in Tucson, AZ and his night was full of seconds. He was the second fast qualifier to start the night, then started and finished second I'm his heat race before starting and finishing second in the feature event as well.
Jake had a full week, entering five USMTS events across Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota over the weekend. Tuesday night, at the Mason City Motor Speedway in Mason City, IA, he ran fourth in his heat race, won the b-main, bur unfortunately suffered a mechanical issue in the feature, ending his night early.
Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the team was in action at the Ogilvie Raceway in Ogilvie, MN for the tracks Mod Wars event. Thursday Jake suffered a DNF in the feature after taking a provisional to start 25th. Friday, he ran 8th in his heat, but then raced from 14th to 7th in the b and earned Hard Charger honors on the feature by charging from 26th up to 7th at the checkered.
Friday, he won his heat race and lead the majority of the feature, ending up second after a broken shock late in the race hampered his run.
Sunday, the team made the trip to the Casino Speedway in Watertown, SD to wrap up the weekend and it ended on a high note as Jake ran fourth in his heat before winning the b-main and then slicing his way through traffic from his 13th starting spot to race to the $5,000 feature win for his efforts.
