O'Neil claims Wild West Shootout opener, earns $2,000
Jake kicked off 2023 much like he ended 2022 as he raced his potent #0 into victory lane during the opening night of the 17th annual Wild West Shootout at the Vado Speedway Park in Vado, NM.
The week long mini-series kicked off on Saturday, January 7th and Jake was able to complete the clean sweep of the night by winning his qualifying heat race from his 5th starting position and then leading every lap from the pole in the night's 25-lap feature event to draw first blood in his opening event of 2023.
The event continued on Sunday evening and after a third to second run in his heat race, Jake started 8th in the feature and was able to race forward into the top five before mechanical issues shut down his night, forcing him to retire from competition.
